I’m about to show you how to very easily create a toilet paper roll instrument in just 5 minutes or less.
This instrument is inspired by the Guiro (as pictured below) which is played by rubbing a stick along a rough texture to make a ratchet sound.
To make this Guiro Toilet Paper Roll instrument, you will need:
- 1 toilet paper roll
- 1 paper straw (paper straws are often stronger than plastic straws)
- 1 pair of scissors
- Felt tip pens or crayons to decorate your home-made guiro
Here’s the method to create this instrument:
Step 1
Flatten the toilet paper roll between your fingers.
Step 2
Use scissors to cut triangle shapes along one side of the toilet paper roll (see image below).
Step 3
Now it’s time to decorate your toilet roll however you want to by using felt pens, crayons, beads, glitter or whatever you choose.
Step 4
Shape the toilet paper roll back into a cylinder then you and your little one can now play the guiro. Use the paper straw to run along the rough side of the toilet paper roll and it will make a ratchet sound like a guiro.
